The Reserve Bank of India in a recent circular has directed that with effect from April 1, 2012, banks should not make payment of cheques /drafts / pay orders / banker’s cheques if they are presented beyond the period of three months from the date of such instrument. Its worthy to make note of the above guidelines. Cheques/drafts/payorder/bankers cheques issued on and after 1st April, 2012 will be valid only for a period of three months. However, please note that the instruments which are issued prior to 1st April. 2012 will remain valid for 6 months from the date of issue.

Banks can now access and share information on high-risk activities, thanks to CIBIL Detect – a nationwide database of reported fraudulent and suspect activities. This database will serve as due diligence tool for banks before establishing business relationship with new customers, Mr Arun Thukral, Managing Director of CIBIL, the country's first credit information bureau, said at the launch of CIBIL Detect here on Tuesday. CIBIL Detect is the first centralised repository in India on confirmed frauds, cases of misuse or attempted misuse of data and suspected or high risk cases that are under investigation in banks and financial institutions. Sawant had spent Rs.2.4 lakhs on the silver Nano (MH03 AW 913), which he got fitted with an AC and a power steering. As Sawant cannot drive, the Concorde Motors showroom provided him with a driver to take him home safely. There was not much afternoon traffic on the Eastern Express Highway, it being a Sunday afternoon. Sawant managed to cross the Bhandup in less than 40 minutes. The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) , a test taken by 600,000 students across the world each year, will look significantly different in 2011. The Educational Testing Service , which administers the exam, announced its plans to revamp the GRE. on Dec. 4, calling the changes the “largest revisions” in the test’s history. ETS spokesman Tom Ewing said changes have been a “long time coming.” ETS first announced changes in 2006, but delayed making them until 2007 to add more Internet-based test centers. In 2007, it canceled the planned changes. The new test will include a new grading scale and an increased emphasis on reasoning and critical thinking skills, while focusing less on analogy and vocabulary sections. Changes to the computer systems the test is administered through will allow students to skip questions and come back later to complete them before finishing the section. This was a really a miracle which happened on January 15th 2010 on the solar eclipse day. I did receive this within few days of this miracle from one of the local news papers in TamilNadu. But I was not sure about the authenticity of the news and hence thought not to publish. The travelling time between Chennai and Bangalore by road could get shorter with the governments of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka evaluating possibilities of reducing distance between the two cities to about 250km from the present 350km, with plans also afoot to promote this route as an industrial and manufacturing hub. A pre-feasibility study has already been completed in this respect by management and engineering consultancy, Mott Macdonald. While financial details of the project are not available, it is expected to be in two phases, with the Chennai-Bangalore corridor being developed in the first phase, followed by the Bangalore-Mumbai corridor. “Apart from developing a freight corridor, there are plans of making the entire stretch an industrial and commercial hub,” said Rajeev Ranjan, principal secretary, industries department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
