Get Passport hassle free - Passport Sewa E- Governance initiative

As you all know that getting passport work to be done in India is time consuming and can take anywhere between 30 to 45 days. Now some relief to all the people who thinks why its taking so much time.

Now passports are going to be delivered like fast foods. You will get the passport within 3 days and incase of Tatkal application, you will receive it on the same day.



How this is made possible ?
The answer to this is Government's Passport Sewa E- Governance initiative which is public private partnership involving External Affairs ministry and Tata Consultancy services.

Keeping in view security and sensitivity, the MEA has not surrendered sovereign functions to the TCS and has only outsourced front-end activities.

Seventy Seven Passport Seva offices are supposed to be setup in different part of the city. I managed to see one Passport seva office in Outer Ring Road Bangalore. It seems our External Affairs Minister S.M.Krishna inspected those offices in bangalore and happy with the proceedings.

The process is going to be tied with cutting edge technologies which includes SMS notifications, grievance system, online services for appointments and 24x7 National call center in 17 languages.

Hope these changes will be a relief for people standing in long queues !!
