Kings XI Punjab won the toss and elected to bat first.
Ravi Bopara and Manvinder Bisla openers of the Kings Punjab started very well with the innings dominating the Bangalore Bowlers from the initial stages.The first wicket partnership went to 129 where the Bangalore bowlers got their first wicket in the 14th over. With Manvinder Bisla departing it was Yuvraj singh who managed to hit a boundary but did not prolong in the grease.
Jayawardens and Bopara joined hands again to put a high total of 203/3 in 20 overs there by setting the required run rate to 10.15
It was going to be tough match for Bangalore with such a high score in the board. It was Ravi Bopara who played sensibly till the end of the innings missing just last three balls of the innings giving catch to kumble from Praveen kumars ball.

Manish Pandey and Kallis reached the grease with such a high score target in their mind. Lot of talks and strategy planning would have happened in the dressing room to tackle this situation. Bangalore openers went agressive from the first balls and the first wicket partnership went upto 74 when Manish Pandey got out by giving a catch to Irfan Pathan bowled by Piyush Chawla.
It was in the control of Bangalore team as they had kept the run rate close to 9+ runs per over. Later Kallis and Uthhapa joined hands and dictated the bowlers striking the balls to boundaries and sixers. At the end of 14 overs Bangalore was 143/2 where they have just lost the wicket of uthappa who score a splendid half century.
With another 61 runs to win from 6 overs, Kallis went over all the bowlers hitting sixers where the fielders were just spectators and no one could stop his. Kohli in the other end did well rotating the strike and giving the strike to Kallis as he knew Kallis was in top form and he would be able to carry the match towards victory.
Bangalore could reach the target of 204/2 in just 18.5 overs with a splendid performance from Kallis who scored 89 runs from 55 balls which included eights 4's and five 6's there by awarded the man of the match for the game.
