Silence is golden
So used to say my father
As this mouth of mine never
Ceased to chatter and blabber.
After years of talking I finally discover
Sweet words are a magic wand of wonder
Harsh word arrows that the heart pierce
Leaving holes like do nails on the fence
Speak up when there is need to be heard
But silent if you need be admired
A few words from deep down the heart
Are better than talk efficiently thought.
Empty words make the most noise
Like stones in an empty vessel
Actions speak with a better voice
What a long speech may never fulfill.
No words can make you feel at fault
Unless you permit them to do that
Harsh words have a power to instill hurt
If only your mind allows the attempt
Change harsh words of disrespect
To sweet words of confidence and trust
And watch kind words flow your way
It’s all in the mind, I solemnly say.
