Gautam Gambhir of Delhi won the toss and put Kings XI Punjab team to bat first. There was a high expectation about the KXIP teams with Yuvraj Singh, Sangarkara & Jayawardens in form and capable players to hit the balls to boundaries and sixers.

But the game did not start as expected as it was only Ravi Bopara who was playing sensibly and the wickets were falling on the other end.Sangarkara, Yuvraj & Jayawardena threw their wickets easily to the Delhi team thereby leaving the punjab team to 104/5 in 13 overs.

Later it was Irfan Pathan and Sreeshanth who scored 21 and 15 runs there by setting target of 143 runs from 20 over with required run rate to 7.10 runs per over.

It was considered as an easy total and cakewalk for Delhi team. Gambhir and Sehwag were the two openers who could finish the game with just their bats. But un expectedly Viru got out with just scoring 8 runs out of his bat and Dilshan getting golden duck follwed by Ab De villers with just 7 runs putting 79/4 in 12.2 overs.

Delhi teams made the easy target as the toughest match and it was just Gautam Gambhir who played with full potential and keeping the Audience heart beat sound increasing. Gautam Gambir played sensibly and scored 72 runs from 54 balls which had nine 4's and one 6 keeping the strike rate at 133.3

Dinesh Karthick and Mithun Manhas added scores of 20 and 31 respectively there by winning the match exactly in 5th balls of the last over. It was nail bitting finish as Gambir was out in the second ball of the last over and it was 3 runs to be taken from 4 balls.Mithun Manhas managed to hit a four in the fifth ball of the last over there by making the Delhi team to win by 5 wickets in hand.
