Vettaikaran Movie Review - Same old spiceless masala

“Vettaikaran” (Hunter) is all about Vijay and his exploits with the bad guys. The movie does not contain any concrete story as such instead it has a one-line story which goes like the hero comes to the city and he comes across the bad guys and what follows is a cat and mouse game between the two. Debutant director Babu Sivan should have worked more on the script as Vijay’s previous flops was an example that movies won’t run only on the strength of his larger than life image. The hero deciding to introduce his son to tinsel world has allotted a small cameo appearance in a song for “Junior Vijay”.

Ravi (Vijay) re-christens himself as Police Ravi is a young fellow in Tuticorin has an ambition of becoming a police officer inspired by Devaraj IPS (Sri Hari). Ravi after failing in school exams for 4 consecutive times, finally on the fifth attempt clears it and starts his journey to chennai. As usual in the railway station he meets Susheela (Anushka) and falls in love at first sight.

In chennai he continues his education by driving auto and on that earning he pays his fees. Susheela suddenly comes to chennai for no obvious reasons and Ravi meets her and the love quotient develops amongst them. The sequences which lead to Susheela falling in love with Ravi is no poorly narrated that even a school going kid will reject their approach.

Then the most anticipated hero-villain clash takes place. Vedhanayagam (Salim Ghosh) is a dreaded don in the city and he gets things done from other out of the fear people have for him. In the end Ravi and Vedhanayagam keep on fighting when the viewers eagerly look forward to the film to end as there has been nothing in the story apart from these two guys fighting.

Anushka after a splendid performance in “Arundhati” has come up with a dare-bare act and the amount of skin she exposes is too much. She has no doubt provided a visual treat to the front benchers. Its high time that Vijay concentrates more on the story and screenplay as movies like this is definite suicide attempt.

Music by Vijay Antony helps the flow of the movie but the major defaulter is the debutant director Babu Sivan who has been wanting in all departments. As a captain of the ship he has been influenced by hit movies of the recent past and added to that he was once an Associate to “Dharani” and that effect still remains large in the final outcome.

“Vettaikaran” nothing special apart from the generous skin show of Anushka.

Helping an Employee Who’s Struggling with Postpartum Depression

Going back to work is tough for any new parent, but the transition is especially difficult for those suffering from postpartum depression. (Remember, postpartum depression affects both women and men.) If you manage someone who has recently had a baby, pay close attention to how they’re doing — a parent’s struggle doesn’t always show on the outside. Some people may overcompensate by working too hard, while others may show a loss of enthusiasm. Familiarize yourself with the services your firm offers — which may include groups for working parents, health care coverage for counseling, or post-natal yoga or meditation classes — so that you can help your employee access support. Offer options such as flex time, telecommuting, gradual return, or peer mentoring. In fact, it’s a good idea to offer these things to all team members so that the new parent doesn’t feel singled out. Find ways to make supporting employees and their mental health part of your culture. Adapted from " What Managers...
