Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu Movie Review

If "Chennai 600028", "Subramaniyapuram" and "Poo" were a list of movies which hit the jackpot without following the conventional commercial plot, there is an addition to this list and that is "Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu".
There is nothing new in the story line of this movie but the difference is pretty obvious in the way the screenplay has been drafted and executed on the adaptation of a real life incident and the director Susindharan has to be given special credit for the same.

"Vennila" is a struggling kabadi group which fails to win a single match at home and away. To maintain their self prestige they also try inviting their weak neighbours for a game but there too they are beaten fair and square.

Mari (Vishnu) shares a passion for the game along with his group of friends from a very small age and that passion kept continuing as they grew older in life. Vishnu unfortunately looses his dad to an accident at a very young age which forces him to abandon school and pushes him to the profession of farming.

Saranya Mohan (No name for her in the movie) then enters the scene with her charming smile and personna admires the genuineness in Mari and as time passes by falls in love with him. As luck would have it saranya a B.Sc student who had come to witness the temple function returns home to madurai promising mari a seventh standard drop-out that she will be back next year for the temple festival.

Mari and his friends decide to go to Madurai to participate in a competition for which they are not eligible but one of the participating team fails to turn up and that chance goes to the "Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu" who make a mockery of the opportunity at the beginning.

What happens after this mockery and whether Saranya and Mari get to unite at the end is the rest of the story. If you expect a normal cinematic type ending then you would be totally wrong as the director has created a dramatic twist in the climax.

Music by debutant Selvaganesh (Son of Ghatam Maestro Vikku Vinayagam) is very refreshing and special mention has to go to the "lesa" song.

On the whole a movie for the masses who are getting bored by the run-of-the-mill masala type movies.

  1. Nice review...feels like "Top 10 movies" when the ending says, the rest is what happens in the movie :)

Helping an Employee Who’s Struggling with Postpartum Depression

Going back to work is tough for any new parent, but the transition is especially difficult for those suffering from postpartum depression. (Remember, postpartum depression affects both women and men.) If you manage someone who has recently had a baby, pay close attention to how they’re doing — a parent’s struggle doesn’t always show on the outside. Some people may overcompensate by working too hard, while others may show a loss of enthusiasm. Familiarize yourself with the services your firm offers — which may include groups for working parents, health care coverage for counseling, or post-natal yoga or meditation classes — so that you can help your employee access support. Offer options such as flex time, telecommuting, gradual return, or peer mentoring. In fact, it’s a good idea to offer these things to all team members so that the new parent doesn’t feel singled out. Find ways to make supporting employees and their mental health part of your culture. Adapted from " What Managers...
