Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Tube : iPhone’s end nearing?

The Finnish player never seems to stop. His innovations and simplicity has always amazed me and of course the world. What Apple has done to the PC world, these people do for mobiles. Now they  are killing Apple in his own game. Come November and you would see the markets with the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, the direct competition to the most coveted Apple iPhone.

Nokia has never been an extreme success in neither the touch screen phones nor flip phone models. I really don’t see any exceptions to it. But, this time, the support from Symbian will be the key behind the real success factor. Symbian S60 5th edition is featured as the operating system. With extremely advanced features for developers and users, Symbian is for the first time offering Touch support from inside the OS.

Obviously, for a Nokia phone, it has a nice UI, 3.15 Mega pixel Carl Zeiss Lens camera, video recorder, and all other standard features, including GPS for a change.

It features three input modes, the computer style QWERTY, extra large numeric keypad and a plectrum for the XpressMusic.

After a long time, Nokia has embedded a proximity sensor into this phone. Believe its for the music over-enthusiasts!

Accelerometer, which the iPhone conceptualized, it part of this device. With a large 3.2” screen, viewing movies would really be fun. Handwriting recognition, Micro-SD slot, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g. Bluetooth with A2Dp support, TV Out are all part of the package. The new feature Stereo FM radio with RDS is also featured in this phone.

For the first time, this phone launches in India much ahead of the Christmas launch for the US markets. But, it has already been launched in some parts of Europe and Singapore. The launch price is the surprise, Euro 279. This is the real killer. When iPhone, Omani and other high-end touch phone hit the market around INR 30,000, this is almost half the price. But there are people who say, you just can’t compare. Lets wait for the Indian launch and see who is the real winner.

    Wow , good news on that. I feel the Apple Iphone is over priced for no reason. Will see how this Nokia 5800 hits the market. I would always prefer nokia for its easy usage and ofcourse symbian.
