As you know, due to the traditional challenge of writing on the PC/web/Mobile, most of the Indian language bloggers use tools such as the ‘Google transliterate’ . The problem with Transliteration is that it assumes that the Indian language user would be well conversant with English alphabet and phonetics. But such an arrangement cannot be a permanent solution for supporting Indian languages on PC where the user is expected to write in English to write in Hindi or Tamil or any other language. It is in the above context that we wish to apprise you of a new technology invented in India called Panini Keypad which is basically a statistical predictive texting support to entering Indian language on digital devices. The Panini Keypad was the winner of the NOKIA Global Mobile Innovation award in Sep 09 as a Mobile Necessity for Emerging Markets.
